Officer Helps Save A Puppy Stranded On The Highway

Police officers are often the first individuals we think can help us in emergencies. They don’t just protect us from harm or violence. They have also been known to deliver babies, buy homeless individuals a much-needed pair of shoes, and even lead a sing-along with children!

But it’s not just people they help, but animals, too. Part of their duty stems from their loveof helping others, regardless of race, age, or even species! And when these moments of kindness are captured on camera, we feel even more thankful for the sheer number of good people who are out there.

OfficerJames Shiderly was coming off his lunch break and driving on the interstate when he came across a startling sight. Traffic slowed down in front of him. Seconds later, he saw a woman hop out of her car: she was chasing after a lost puppy, whohad somehow found his way between cars.

That’s when the officer jumped in to help. Using his motorcycle, he controlled traffic flow by driving behind the puppy, hoping that he wouldn’t wander into the neighboring lanes or jump over the partition.

The puppy was ultimately brought to safety, and animal control is now looking for his owner. The rescue was captured on a cell phone camera from a building close by!
