The Summer Temps Got You Overheated? This Pup Has The Right Idea!

I think I say this every year, but the heat this summer is absolutely unbearable!

If you need me from June to September, you can find me at work or locked away in the coolest room of my house. From time to time, I’ll try less conventional ways to beat the heat…did you know that drinking hot beverages can actually help cool your body down?

Then again, I think this New York City dog’s method of staying chill definitely wins.

Staying cool never looked so cute!

While this pup can look adorable playing in the fountain, I have a feeling that I would have a few onlookers giving me the death stare.

Browser the library cat escapes eviction amid international outcry

News that a Texas town council had required the cat to move out rubbed many the wrong way and people from Germany to Australia made their voices heard

A feline saga which gripped the nation has come to a happy ending: Browser, a cat controversially ousted from his home at a library in small-town Texas, will now be allowed to stay.

Thousands had expressed their support for Browser online.

In 2010, Browser was brought to the library in White Settlement, Texas, from the local animal shelter, to fix a rodent problem. According to Lillian Blackburn, president of the Friends of the Library, he quickly became a community fixture.

He even has his GED because he sat in on all the classes, Blackburn said.

On 14 June, however, the town council of White Settlement passed a motion, proposed by Elzie Clements, that gave Browser 30 days to relocate. Clements and fellow council member Paul Moore spoke against the cat, citing allergies and a pending renovation of the library as reasons for his removal.

In a video of the meeting posted to the White Settlement Council website, eight people spoke in favour of Browser.

We dont feel like thats right, Blackburn said, though she noted finding a new home would not be difficult. We dont feel like its good for the cat. We dont feel like its good for the community.

A woman spoke about the history of cats in libraries. A man mentioned WebMD statistics on the low prevalence of cat allergies. Others talked about how the cat brought children into the library to read. A little boy was sad he had only been able to pet the cat once.

Im still trying to figure out why someone did this, Blackburn said. I dont think any of us know. No one in the staff has been told this was going to happen beforehand.

Clements said: I know Im coming up for re-election in November, and I probably just doomed my fate. Those gathered in the chamber laughed.

After the meeting, more than 700 people signed a library petition in favor of Browser staying. Nearly 12,000 signed a change.org petition pleading the same cause. A Facebook page in support of Browser had over 2,000 likes; the librarys page was littered with comments from supporters around the world.

On Friday, a special session of the town council, broadcast on Periscope by a reporter from the local ABC affiliate, voted unanimously to reinstate Browser.

The towns mayor, Ron White, said he had received more than 1,000 messages in support of the feline, from everywhere in the United States as well as Germany, Australia, Malaysia, Guam, and England.

Clements reluctantly put forth the motion to reinstate the cat, so the council could move on to other business.

I would like to apologize to those that are unable to use our public library facilities because of this cat, he said.

After the decision was announced, the crowd erupted in cheers.

Speaking after the proceedings on Friday, Blackburn said she was pleased that the library was able to keep Browser, whose care was not funded by the council.

White, a nonvoting member of the council, had spoken in favor of Browser.

Browser belongs to the community and were responsible for him, White said before the first vote. What kind of example for the citizens of White Settlement are we setting if after five years we no longer want Browser?

White had previously told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram that the decision to relocate Browser was related to the fact that someone at city hall was not allowed to bring their dog to work.

That cat doesnt have anything to do with whether somebody can have their puppy at city hall, White said. The council just went out and did this on their own because they dont like cats.

Members of the council did not respond to requests for comment.

A North Texas city council has voted unanimously to reinstate Browser the cat to his job as live-in mascot of the city’s public library.

KRLD-AM in Dallas-Fort Worth reports the governing council of the Fort Worth suburb of White Settlement voted 3-0 to let Browser stay at the library two weeks after voting 2-1 to give the tabby 30 days to check out.

Mayor Ron White had said the move against Browser was a response to officials’ denial of permission to an employee to bring a puppy to work at City Hall. But he says he was overwhelmed with more than 1,000 messages on social media, all in support of keeping Browser on the job.

The vote was taken without hearing from Browser’s supporters who jammed the council chamber.

Trumpton creator Gordon Murray dies aged 95 – BBC News

Media captionThere were only 13 episodes of Trumpton, which first ran on BBC One in 1967

Gordon Murray, creator and puppeteer of the popular BBC children’s series Trumpton, has died at the age of 95.

His son-in-law, William Mollett, confirmed the news in a statement to the BBC.

The Trumptonshire Trilogy – Camberwick Green, Trumpton and Chigley – were shown weekly by the corporation from 1966 for 20 years.

The programmes were later repeated by Channel 4 and then Nickelodeon Junior.

Camberwick Green, which was made using stop-motion animation, was the first children’s show to be aired in colour on the BBC in 1966.

Murray was born in London on 3 May 1921 – the youngest of four children.

He attended Emanuel School, where he studied Classics – but later gave up Latin and Greek, after which he spent most of his time in the art and drama departments.

Mr Mollett told the BBC that Murray enjoyed going to the Victoria Palace Theatre with his father as a child to see variety shows – and particularly liked the marionettes.

Murray was nine years old when his father died in 1930.

After leaving school, he started working as a journalist and joined the Territorial Army. In 1939 he was enlisted in the London Scottish Regiment.

Having been commissioned into the Royal Corps of Signals, Murray took part in the Normandy landings as a platoon commander, landing on Gold Beach.

After the war, he worked as an actor in repertory theatre, and appeared in Shakespeare plays and Peter Pan – where he met his wife, ballet dancer Enid Martin.

Image caption Trumpton used stop-motion animation

In the 1950s, Murray established a puppet company touring theatres in the UK, when he was scouted by BBC producer Freda Lingstrom.

He went on to produce several successful marionette shows for children’s television including Hans Christian Anderson’s The Nightingale and 33 episodes of The Rubovia Legends.

His first television credit was in 1954 as a puppeteer on Bengo – a children’s programme about the adventures of a boxer puppy.

Murray had the opportunity to become the BBC’s head of children’s programmes, but chose instead to form his own production company – where he created the Trumptonshire trilogy.

Camberwick Green, Trumpton and Chigley were created using stop motion animation and actual 3D scaled down models.

The characters were eight inches tall, with heads made out of ping-pong balls and clothes out of foam latex.

There were 39 short episodes across the trilogy – all of which were first broadcast on BBC One, airing before the midday news.

The programmes were digitally restored and re-released in 2011, after the original footage was found in the family’s attic and in the BBC archives.

In recent years he lived with his family near Stamford and is survived by his daughters Emma and Rose and his four grandchildren.

Puppy Hilariously Sneaks Up On His Toy In The Hallway

There’s something to be said about being extra cautious as we go about our day. After all, it’s better to be safe than sorry!Of course, it can also be easy to take that a little too farand find yourself in a needless tizzy over something completely harmless, much like the cutie in the clip below.

Like many puppies, it’s prettyhard to tell what’s going on in this little furball’s brain as he approaches his stuffed toy with such trepidation. It reminds me a lot of the little guy who played a silly game of tag with his bird buddy, but he was a bit braver than this precious pup. What makes this example particularly hilarious, though, is the fact that another toy is laying innocently on the floor behind him as he makes his way ever so slowly towhat likea mini stuffed lion.

It’s moments like this that make having a pet so worth it.Each one has their own unique set of quirks that set them apart from their fellow animals and makes them all the more adorable. For instance, my dog always acted like this around something even more strange: balloons. She is absolutely terrified of them and we have no idea why! It’s just too funny to watch her every time a birthday or other event rolls around as the floating orbs taunt her yet again.

Take a look below to see him finally muster the courage to swipe the toy up.

Public Works Crew Rescues A Pit Bull Puppy Trapped In A Sewer Pipe

Our pets are just like us, sometimes: they have a sense of humor as well aslikes and dislikes among other traits. When they’re young, they’re also prone to getting into accidents!

Cassandra Branch and Georgie Phelps went through quite the adventure when one of their adorable 8-week-old puppies fell down a sewage pipe near their home. The poor pup, named “Boss,” had walked backward and fell all the way down.

The two sisters immediately went into a panic, and called the authorities: no one was able to help them.

Their mom put out a desperate cry for help in a Facebook post, and six strangers came to help them. But even after they dug a hole, they couldn’t spot the puppy, and they were starting to run out of time.

The next morning, they contacted the town mayor, who enlisted the help of a public works crew. They were the ones who were able to get the job done after digging yet another hole, and using cameras to check where the puppy was. Boss was pulled out, happy to be released from his muddy prison! The thankful family had to wait a harrowing 12 hours before being reunited with the adorable little one.

Rescue Dog Adopts An Abandoned Mother Cat And Her Tiny Babies

Rescued animals are a special breed of animal. After suffering unspeakable kinds of abuse, these rescued animals take a while to recover and learn how to trust again.

Some rescue animals immediately turn around in personality once they are in a loving home. It’s light a light switch has been flicked on. A dog that was once skittish and fearful will be all smiles and puppy kisses if they are living with the right family.

Gina is a boxer who had been abused terribly. But once she was in a loving home, her life turned around. One day, while on a walk Gina and her human came across a cat and her kittens that had been abandoned by a garbage can. The mother cat, Lucy, had only recently delivered her babies.

Gina took Lucy and her babies right in and has become their adoptive mother. Gina nurtures the babies as if they were her own litter and treats Lucy like a younger sibling she needs to watch over. Gina is much like this pit bull father who adopted a tiny kitten as his baby. Dogs can be such sweet and caring animals!

You can see more about Gina and Lucy’s future in the video below! Do you think your dog would accept kittens as their babies if you brought them home?

Texas city council votes to evict librarys cat | Fox News

Browser lives at the White Settlement library in Texas. (White Settlement Public Library)

He lost this one by a whisker.

A beloved cat living in a Texas public library for nearly six years has to find a new home after the City Council ordered his eviction in a 2-to-1 vote the mayor attributed to City Hall pettiness.

Now Browser has 30 days to vacate the public library in White Settlement, despite childrens petitions and voters protests, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

White Settlement Mayor Ron White told the paper that he blames the gray cats eviction on pettiness at City Hall because a city employee wasnt allowed to bring a puppy to work.

Weve had that cat five years, and theres never been a question, White said.

Lawmakers took up the cats fate at a June 14 City Council meeting under an agenda item listed only as consider relocation of Library Facility cat Browser.

City Hall and City businesses are no place for animals, Council member Elzie Clements said at the meeting, according to a weekly in White Settlement called the Grizzly Detail.

The paper said Clements and another lawmaker voted in favor of evicting Browser. Before the vote, eight people from the audience spoke in support of keeping the cat in the library.

Browser became the librarys mascot after being adopted from an animal shelter.

The library’s web page says the cats favorite activities include lounging on top of computer keyboards as library patrons try to type on them and attending GED classes.

This cat has been loved by people of all ages for six years, Lillian Blackburn, president of the Friends of the White Settlement Public Library, told the Star-Telegram. I dont have any animals but this cat is so gentle and so lovable and he brings so much comfort to so many people, it seems a shame to take him away.

White is hoping the council will reconsider its action at a July 12 meeting, two days before Browers eviction date, according to the paper.
